Meadowbrook Skilled Nursing & Rehab Collecting School Supplies for Area Children

Skilled Nursing Facility Helping to Stock Shelves at Local Schools

Aug 4, 2023

Meadowbrook Skilled Nursing & Rehab is lending a hand to local children and teachers as they prepare for the new school year. To provide area classrooms with the materials they need for students to succeed, the skilled nursing facility is leading a school supplies drive locally.

Collecting School Supplies
Meadowbrook Skilled Nursing & Rehab is holding a back-to-school supply drive for area classrooms, with staff volunteering to shop for the materials kids and teachers need to write, color and create, plus accepting drop-off supply donations from the community.

Staff members at Meadowbrook have volunteered to shop for the types of materials kids and teachers need to write, color, create, and more. They will be using funds donated by the facility itself, as well as supplies donated by the local community, and provide them to local public schools.

“We are all helping 'our' kids,” said Becky Garcia, CEO/administrator of Meadowbrook. “This is one way we can help them succeed, and also benefit the entire community. Some of them are the grandchildren or great grandchildren of our residents, and we see them when they come to visit, so we like to support local families and teachers.”

According to local teachers, the following items are the most-needed donations. While Meadowbrook will be donating some of them, additional supplies are always needed:

  • Pencils, pens, crayons
  • Glue sticks, markers
  • Notebooks, filler paper

Members of the community wishing to donate and of these supplies or others, can drop them off at Meadowbrook, 320 South 2nd St., Grayville, Ill. 62844. Meadowbrook will deliver all supply donations to area schools.

“We are helping our students and teachers focus on learning by removing some of their responsibility for obtaining sufficient supplies,” said Garcia. “Students succeed when they can concentrate on their studies, especially when they have the materials on hand that foster development and creativity.”
